PEPUS
PEPUS is a Spanish seafood preserves brand created by Espinaler, the historic gourmet company from Vilassar de Mar, Barcelona. Espinaler’s story began in 1896 as a small Mediterranean tavern serving wine, vermouth, and traditional seafood appetizers.
The PEPUS brand was launched in 2003 by Miquel Tapias as Espinaler’s second line of canned fish and seafood. The name pays tribute to “Pepus,” a fisherman from Vilassar de Mar who was a close friend of the Tapias family and a much-loved figure in the town. He visited Taberna Espinaler regularly, becoming part of the local culture and the family history behind the brand.
Today, PEPUS represents authentic Spanish conservas with a younger, approachable identity, offering seafood products made for tapas, aperitivo, and everyday gourmet enjoyment.
