We seek out providers that ensure sustainable methods in their food production.

Our tinned seafood producers use sustainable fishing that protects local fish populations. Some of their artisanal and small-scale methods include:

  • Drift net fishing (Xeito), where a smaller net is manually placed into the water from small fishing boats and each fish is individually removed from the net.
  • Seafood catchers (Mariscadoras) who hand gather shellfish, such as cockles, while walking through the sand.
  • Mussel farming from floating wood rafts (Bateas) with minimal environmental impact.

All of our tinned tuna is dolphin safe.

Our meat, spice and oil producers also use sustainable farming methods that are regulated by their regional authorities. They limit their use of natural resources, ensuring the land for future generations of farmers.
